February 26th, 2016 Art Books Culture Film Photography
I was introduced to some photography for the Hunger Games series and I fell in love with them. They are some very arresting images, which are styled, lite and composed brilliantly. They are the brain child and photos of Tim Palen, Chief Brand Officer and President of Worldwide Marketing at Lionsgate. He is an award-winning fine-art photographer whose work encompasses editorial, advertising, fashion, portraiture and video portraiture.
He was named AdWeek’s 2012 Brand Genius for his work on the mega-hit The Hunger Games. Palen has also been recognized in Fast Company’s “100 Most Creative People in Business” and Entertainment Weekly’s “50 Smartest People in Hollywood”—I would agree completely. I love how the images enhance and extend the world of the Hunger Games. They create an interest in wanting to know more about this evocative world. When creating these images Tim builds a unique relationship with each of the actors over the course of the filming which has allowed him to capture images with a striking intimacy. The images both capture and translate the intensity of the films into exquisite visual moments. His work is inspired, captivating as well as transporting.
He is a veteran theatrical campaign designer who has personally photographed more than 50 campaign posters, and whose movie poster credits include numerous Academy Award® winning films.
You can experience these and more fantastic images from the Hunger Games in several collectable book series from Assouline.
