Guest at Disneyland enjoyed a tremendous surprise when via a magic looking glass the Mad Hatter (Johnny Depp) came to life. In a truly inspiring piece of marketing promoting the upcoming movie release of Alice Through The Looking Glass guests were delighted by the Mad Hatter.
A large kiosk with a mirror like frame was placed near the theme parks entrance. It looked like any other ordinary marketing kiosk with changing images announcing the upcoming movie release of Alice Through The Looking Glass. However this was far from any ordinary kiosk, it was equipped with live video stream capabilities. From a separate location Depp could see the guests who were passing by or pausing to look at his image.
He would sit perfectly still for awhile until subtly beginning to move or saying something. He would then begin interacting with the guest in a very cute and fun Mad Hatter kind of way. It is truly magical to see how the park guests were surprised and entertained by this interactive billboard effect. Now this is brilliant marketing!
Disney’s Alice Through The Looking Glass opens Friday May 27th.
