The Louvre’s statues never looked so hip. French photographer Leo Caillard’s series “Hipsters in Stone” is a fun and witty take on classical statues. Leo is an emerging artist developing a singular personal vision. Overlapping photography, technology, and imagination, his meticulously crafted images combine a delicate intertwining of the new and the historic.
This cheeky series was the collaboration of Leo and retoucher Alexis Persani. Leo started by photographing the sculptures and then arranged a casting call in Paris for models who matched the proportions and physiques of the statues. The models were then photographed in Leo’s studio wearing hipster style attire. Alexis Persani then worked his digital magic, clothing the statues with Leo’s photos. The combination is just fantastic and is a great fresh take on these classical statues.
