The Fasano Hotel is an amazing place to stay in Rio de Janeiro that I highly recommend. Located on Avenida Vieira Souto in the heart of Ipanema beach, This Philippe Starck designed hotel combines glamour and sophistication. The design reflects the heyday of the Bossa Nova era of the 50’s and 60‘s, when Ipanema blossomed into the city’s most charming neighborhood.
The hotel has this wonderful contemporary Brazilian design that is both trendy, but comfortable. The generous use of wood gives a rich and relaxed elegance. The use of Sergio Rodrigues armchairs are perfectly suited for the fun atmosphere–I absolutely fell in love with them.
Of course you will want to spend time on Ipanema beach but when you are tired of the crowds the rooftop infinity pool at the Fasano is a great place to be. The views are truly spectacular! There is a rooftop lounge and cafe that you can enjoy during the day and at night.
The hotel is served by three restaurants: Fasano al Mare, haute Italian cuisine with a seafood flair; the poolside bar, for guests who prefer to take it easy by the poolside; and Baretto-Londra, a bar and nightclub. Food at the pool could use a bit more refinement but you will be so in ah of the view you won’t care. The hotel is also close to Copacabana beach and walking distance to the trendy Leblon area. You will find several very good restaurant choices in Leblon.
Tip: You will have to book early if you want to get a room on the ocean view side—and it is what I recommend. I would also ask for one of the rooms on the higher floors that is angled more facing to the right. It will give you a better view.
